About Us

Fluent | Dane Robbins

Hi, I'm Dane Robbins, the owner of Fluent, a St. Louis based marketing consultancy founded in 2008 to help businesses take advantage of technologies to discover and build better relationships with their customers. I discovered my calling almost by accident while working in high-level marketing positions that required me to bridge the (large) gaps between the needs of the executive suite and the limitations of their technology teams. I’ve always had a love for marketing that rivaled my curiosity of technology, and that intersection of art and science is what fuels my work at Fluent.

Over the years we've helped small and medium sized businesses in industries from electronics engineering and industrial manufacturing to luxury travel, medical, legal and financial services. Our expertise includes lead generation, lead nurturing, content creation, website strategy, and technology implementation, using tools such as search engine marketing, marketing automation, email marketing, web and software development, and social media marketing, and much more.

How can we help you?

We build relationships in a digital world. It's really that simple. Companies fail because they think of their efforts to locate new customers as lead generation. Humans are not leads. They have habits, and friends, and loved ones. They search in unique ways and look for products that help them navigate the world. Relationship building is about finding where your customers like to hang out, what they like to do, how they shop, where they visit, who they trust, what they read, what they watch. With more than 20 years of experience, I'll help you build a strategy that puts your company, your products and services, and your values in front of them. Your customers will find you.

Find Your Audience

Your clients are the lifeblood of your business. We help you identify your best customers, find out what they do, where they visit, and how they like to search for products and services, then establish a strategy to build relationships with your best prospects.

Build Relationships with
Marketing Automation

Marketing automation done well begins with a relationship, not a machine. It is the never-sleeping-sales-assistant that helps you reach your audience at the best moment in time, with the right message, and the right context. I'm betting you can spot bad marketing automation a mile away.

Build Great Content That Your Customers Want to Read

The best relationships are built when they are started by your audience, not by you. Remove the push. Remove the interruption. When you build organic content that speaks directly to your audience, the customer will find you. Best of all, that content will last for years, working while you sleep.

Be Social

The best selling isn't selling at all. Some people call it soft selling, but it's even more than that. It's a relationship. It's trust. It's social. It means that you can finally stop trying so hard. It's an opportunity to be human and connect. Be human. That's all that's needed. Sales will follow.

Think of Technology as Your Friend

Your audience is out there now exploring the world like no other time in history. The world is filled with choices and opportunities and information and fun, and there are a lot of places to go. Technology helps us make sense of the world around us. It stitches together an experience that doesn't interrupt, but provides context. While building your technology strategy, it is better to have a good compass than a detailed map. A detailed map will get you there, though you may have to travel deep into the woods before you reach your destination. On the other hand, a good compass will always point in the right direction, and usually with a lot less hassle.

Level Up with Training & Coaching

Benjamin Franklin once said, "When you are finished changing, you are finished." The beauty of innovation and knowledge is that it is a renewable, infinite resource. A new perspective. A new idea. A new way of doing things.
